A $50 Million Challenge

These are exciting times for the Yale School of Public Health. Yale’s decision to designate YSPH as a fully independent school and to commit $100 million to the school’s endowment comes at a pivotal time when the university has launched a major new capital campaign, for Humanity. Together, our independence, our fortified endowment, and the promise of the YSPH campaign are all working to strengthen the school’s foundation and its ability to innovate for the future.

And there is more good news: Along with the school’s independence comes a new $50 million challenge from the Yale Administration. For every gift committed to a YSPH endowed fund between July 1, 2021 and June 30, 2026, the university will transfer an identical dollar amount directly into the school’s endowment. The earnings from these unrestricted, endowed funds will then become available for the school’s new dean to use at their discretion to advance top priority goals.

For those who want to support scholarships, it’s possible to have an even greater impact: With the establishment of any new endowed scholarship, we will match donor funds dollar for dollar*, with special funds established by generous anonymous donors.
